...5 centimeters per second

Do you know
The speed at which cherry blossoms fall?

At what speed must I live
To be able to see you again?

Totally made my day.

Seriously thinking about getting him. He didn't elicit the same reaction as when I first saw Sophie, but still, there was a very strong, "Oooh, I want to bring you home," reaction.

Maybe I'll get him a few months after he's out. I don't know if it's fortunate that he's still not out when I go to Sing or not. If I still like him by October / November, I'll probably get him to go with girl #4. Yes, aside from Sophie, I'm probably getting another girl when I go to Magma Heritage in September. Strong candidates are My Melody, Blanche and Stica---all to be rewigged, rechipped and rebodied. Switch everything but their face-ups actually. Let's just wait and see what happens in September.

Several levels of it. After repeatedly attempting to put Aki's head back together, I was stumped as to why her eyelid refuses to close. It works when I push it from the inside, but not with the eyelevers. After the nth time of attempting, scraping the paint, repainting and stuff, I realized that during my first clean up attempt (I sanded off her pink eyelid paint), I filed off a bit of the peg that's supposed to go into one of the grooves. Hence the inability of the eyelid to swing shut cleanly. I know, I know. It doesn't make sense unless you (1) own pullips, (2) fiddle with them but the bottomline is:

I stupidly made a massive failed experiment and am now scratching my head on how to make her eyelids work again without having to buy new ones. I plan to resculpt the peg with epoxy, I'm just not sure it'll work. I can put her back together, worse case scenario, but her left eyelid just won't be able to close anymore, if I fail with resculpting.

Anyway, I'll try fixing it myself (I just needed to vent, really) but if anyone on my Flist has spare pullip eyelids lying around, I'd be glad to buy them. I need her left eye...the one on the right side if you're looking at it.

Looks like Sachiko's having more fun than I am. And no, this one's still taken with Natsume. My brain is overloading with information as I read the manual while fiddling with Natsuki. Truth be told, I'm quite intimidated. I don't remember being this lost during my film SLR days. So many buttons, 80% of them I have no farking idea what for.

Still, despite feeling like such an idiot, it feels good holding a nice, fat SLR. The weight, the grip, the nice shutter sound---it just feels so therapeutic you know? The act of actually putting your eye to the viewfinder, I never knew how much I missed it.

I still have a lot to learn though, that's why you guys won't be seeing pics anytime soon. All the pics I've taken so far are crap. But I'm damned dedicated to making Natsuki submit to my will (or at least arrive at a compromise) so there's hope yet.

Yes. I can has new wigs? I'm liking him better now that he has non-pink hair and he's not in his stock clothes. He feels more like my Grey now, instead of being just another Horizon. I need to get him glasses though, he can't keep borrowing Seiji's since Seiji-kun absolutely hates his guts. I wish releaserain would restock, I'm thinking silver frames for him so he won't look too emo. I'm considering dollmore as well, but --- aaack! Too emo!

At least now I can figuring out how I can get him into my storyline.

i. accomplished
I feel so much better now! I finally managed to send out my long delayed Dollie-Mixtures Secret Santa Swap package yesterday. Because I was feeling guilty with the delay (I should've sent it out during the first week of December), I ended up stuffing the jiffy mailer bursting to full with candy. Sent it via EMS so my recipient will get it within the year at the very least. I doubt it'll get there by Christmas.

Last night, I managed to persuade my dolls to pose for me so I finally managed to get our Christmas pics done. Then, off I went to the photo place to print them out so now I have Christmas cards, finally! All that's left is to mail them first thing tomorrow morning then I'm done. Yay! I feel so accomplished!

Sadly, they'll be late for Christmas but I'm still happy because it turned out so nice. So yay!

ii. another accomplishment
And even better, I finally managed to do the next chapter in the continuing saga chronicling the lives of the dolls who rule my life.

The next comic, Welcome home, Sachiko! is up at This Doll's Life.

Spent the day at Mall of Asia for the first Manila Pullip Dollie Meet. Had so much fun meeting fellow pullip collectors and a whole slew of dollies---but now I'm going nuts since I haven't done ANYTHING for my TQ shoot. *sweatdrops* I promised last time that I'd shoot earlier and not leave it at the last minute, but darn, looks like weekend relaxation pawned me. Spent Friday night seeing a movie and Saturday vegetating in bed since I wasn't feeling too hot. Then the whole of today traipsing around Manila, taking piccies of my dollies.

Oh yeah, I snapped Seiji's repaired hand so I did a repair job. I'm now feeling woozy from Epoxy putty fumes. Is it supposed to smell this much? I don't like it at all. How I wish my latest Mimiwoo Obitsu batch would arrive already but I doubt that she's shipped it already. Oh well.

And Junpei's wig arrived last Friday. It looks much like the stock Sage wig. In fact, you wouldn't think I rewigged him. It looks like I just style well, hehe. After seeing 3 more Sages at the meet, I now regret not getting something more radical for him, because other than his hair being goshdarned soft, nothing sets him apart. I might consider letting him wear Sachi's carrot wig when it gets here, especially since Sachi's hair is growing on me already. Or I could get him a fur wig. Gyeah. I'll decide some other time. I don't want to think about spending money on another wig.

I've been forcing myself to post pics from the meet already, but I can barely keep my eyes peeled so to bed I shall go. And since I'm not making much sense anymore, I think I better end this post already.

i. pretty pretty plastic
I've no plans to buy a toy that's as expensive as a Pullip but has no use except for displaying but deymn, I want her.

Kaori, The Nurse by Junko Mizuno

She'd look so pretty perched on my computer at work. *sigh* Can't justify the cost though. Yes, I have paid more for Pullips but a doll I play with and a figure that I'll simply display are two very different things.

ii. outtakes
TQ challenge 4 entry up on This Doll's Life. Pardon the laziness with the updates, I plan on revamping TDL into a multi-user blog to let each doll have her own little place on the web.

iii. link pimping
QueenCaptain Sachiko has commanded me to invite you all to her friend Midori's blog. She met Midori on the plane from Japan to Manila and quickly decided that Midori will be another one of her toys dearest friends. Mi-chan lives with my friend Chris so I guess it would be easy for the two girls to get together. Anyway, visit Mi-chan at Midori no Hibi.

We made it to the 4th round, that's the 10/20 elimination. I should be happy. I mean, I was. But right now, I'm feeling a creeping sense of pressure about churning a fantastic pic. I really really want to do my best, but you know that old song, about my best not being good enough?

Shows my age, huh?

Anyway, to those who haven't seen it, here's Seiji's Sweet Emotion entry - Shyness.

iii. saberday again

i. reading level=airhead!
I found this little banner on Rotch's eljay about your blog's reading level. I couldn't resist doing the meme. It basically determines what reading level is needed to comprehend your blog. I ran Kitchen Cow on it.

cash advance

O.o

Then I tried my LJ.
cash advance

I didn't bother running Aki's blog, fearing I'd get simian. I know I shouldn't be insulted and all because, hey, in communication, it's best to spread your message clearly, simply and concisely to make sure you're understood. In fact, even at work, I usually try to choose simple words that can't possibly be misconstrued. But still, practically being told you're an idiot...ah, the ego. It bleeds! *laughs nervously*

So if this makes me an airhead, does this mean I'm purtty? *tosses hair*

ii. saturday
I've never been so sad to realize it's a Saturday. Why? It simply means my work vacation is over, it's the weekend, and it'll be Sunday tomorrow. I guess I'm just too greedy for vacation days :P

iii. gammage!
Yay for DS gaming! I'm currently juggling Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations, Final Fantasy Revenant Wings, and The Sims2: Castaway (I suck!). Yay for lovely games! But double yay if I can find a strat guide for Castaway, I really, truly suck.

iv. dollie dollie!
My aunt called me yesterday to greet me and asked me whether I wanted anything from there (Daly City, CA). Being the brat I am, I asked for doll clothes, Ken clothes in particular since the boys need clothes badly and there are only 3 FF boys sets in existence in Manila. I hope she finds some cheap, and I hope they're not any of the 2 Ken FF sets I have. Hope they manage to find some boys doll clothes. So difficult juggling 3 shirts between 2 boys. I really should try sewing again.

Oh yeah, and John managed to fix Seiji's wrist up. Plus, he made me a dollie house / room / flat that's really lovely. So double yay! Though I still don't have any idea for my TQ shoot. ^_^;;

v. shameless site promotion
Ohohohohohoho! My little heart goes dokidoki. Let your heart go dokidoki too. Check out the latest events in This Doll's Life. And goshdarned it, I managed to update Kitchen Cow with a Curry Omuraisu Bento. Really trying to get back on track with the food posts. Dollies are so demanding!

i. waiting list
As of today, I'm waiting for the following packages:
- Seiji's glasses Ohohohohohohoho!
- Aki's obitsu replacement hands
- Junpei's Monique wig
- Sachiko's Cancan wig
- Re-Ment Dolly Fashion Autumn release (Still a pre-order, not yet sent out by HLJ) (broke the bank but on its way)

Overboard with the online shopping much? Demn you paypal! At least it's nice to know that the first three items were bought with Kitchen Cow's first ever earnings. ^_^;; Yay! One day, I shall be like Nina and earn bajillions off the intarnetz!

Aside from this, I still need to pay a 1k balance for Sachiko when she arrives. And I also spent a little over 1k on my way home buying clothes for Aki, Junpei & Seiji. Dollwhipped much? Yes. The little brats better be grateful!

ii. vacation vacation. huzzah!
Yay, five day vacation! Well, I'm off from Wednesday to Friday, but since it's a weekend, it's a 5-day thing. Yay! Yay! Yay! Time for crafty fun!
meaning of life
i. hot film
We watched Beowulf Saturday evening, compliments of Noel (Thanks Noel!) and it was a hot film. Not because of nekkid Angelina Jolie nor nekkid Beowulf. It was because when we got to that scene where the dragon was burning the tower? The film burned. Literally. As the dragon spewed fire, the literal film burned, stopping the movie for a minute or so.

The timing couldn't have been better.

ii. good parenting
Parents, please consider what movies your kids are watching before packing them off with yaya (nanny) to the movies. Because Beowulf is not something your pre-adolescent kids should be watching unsupervised. Heck, I don't think it should be shown to kids at all. All that gore, inebriation, sexual innuendo, and nekkid Angelina Jolie is not something kids should see.

Especially when your kids are loud, immature and ruin the cinema experience for all. I hope your brats get Grendel nightmares! Though judging by their reaction from Angelina...I'd rather not guess what their dreams would be like. T_T

iii. music & lyrics
Did my challenge 2 shoot yesterday. I found it fun, but a part of me feels apprehensive because the shoot felt so easy. I guess I got too used to complicated set-ups between PF & TQ so now, with a simple set-up, I feel like I'm slacking off---something I promised not to do.

Reminder to self: You loved the new concept enough to drop your initial, complicated set-up. Stop flogging yourself. Besides, the song's goshdarned fun! How can you go wrong?

i. listography
Lists are fun. They're addictive. And now, they're doing social networking on it too. Unbelievable? Enjoyable! If you like making lists, come join me on Listography. If you'd like, you can add me to your favorites as well---that's like adding me on your friends' list or something.

ii. comic life
I've heard of Comic Life ages ago, I think when it started getting bundled with new Macs? But being a PC user at home where I do most of my fun stuff, I still persisted on using good old Adobe Photoshop to do comic strips. I was pleasantly surprised when someone on Flickr mentioned using Comic Life on a PC. I searched and sure enough, there it was. Yay!

Behold, my first Comic Life comic. I'm getting OC about font sizes and all (a throwback to my short stint as a fan scanlator) but I'm planning to master it eventually. And with such willing models, I know I'll be able to create much more.

Must remember to take thought bubbles in consideration when shooting though. ^_^;;

iii. the turmoil begins
Another contest, another round of anxiety. I guess being anxious is too much a part of me and I shall always worry right before the entries are revealed.

I'm comfortable in knowing I did my best. Sure it's far from perfect, there's a number of limitations from choosing an idiotically ambitious concept like mine but I guess the bottomline is, I did what I could. If we could use photoshop to manipulate the images, it would've been a piece of cake. But executing my concept with only universal image leveling / curves / color correction allowed? Insane, I tell you. ^_^;; No wonder I'm anxious.

iv. getting wiggy with it
Junpei's wig is a pain. That's why I haven't photographed him yet. It falls too flat, making him look so geekazoid when he's supposed to be the brash, loud, charmer. How's he going to sweep Aki off her feet with THAT hair? Woe is me.
