...do I keep torturing myself with tragic stories? I just finished reading Basilisk, all 5 volumes. And my heart hurts.
Gyeah. Masochistic streak much?
And if that's not enough, I'm planning to look for my copy of Shinobi to watch it. Then probably the Basilisk Anime.
Gyeah.
On the internet front, we still don't have internet at work so I'm not online much. Hates both Globe and myDSL.

On the photo front, I scored a second-hand B&W photography book for just PhP190. It reminds me of FOTOCAM and while most of the things in the book are things we were taught in school, I really need the refresher. I guess I'm taking photography more seriously now than back in college, since I'm doing it because I want to and not because I have Judy Sibayan breathing down my neck. Don't get me wrong. I loved photography then, but somehow, having to do it for the grades made me focus on completing the course, instead of actually learning.
So now, I'll be studying this book, taking photos, and hopefully, enrolling in classes after I go on vacation. I found a class I want to enroll in already. It's within my budget and I like their course outline. It's just too bad I don't have anyone who wants to go to class with me. It would be so much fun if I had someone to learn and compare notes with.
Because I'm talking about photography and stuff, I feel the need to leave you guys with a photo:

No reason why I chose this. I just love this photo. And Ace of course. :P

i. damn you Oda Eiichiro!
I enjoyed reading Fairy Tale so much (*huggles to nekkid sukebe Gray*) that I decided to check if there were any new chapters other than the ones a work colleague gave me. Instead of finding more however, what I found was One Piece chapter 441. Of course I had to download it, especially since Fairy Tale's art reminds me so much of Luffy and company. Anyway, I think it was a mistake reading it since it ended in a horrible cliffhanger. And I fear for the worst.
( Cut for spoiler. )
ii. i am a fangirl, hear me squeal!
Episode 4 of Romeo x Juliet had me squee-ing like all good fangirls should. Those who've seen the episode know why. Remember this?
( 140kb image under cut. Don't worry. I added a large space after the One Piece spoiler so you can be spoiled by one and not the other. )
i. camera rush sale
An officemate is selling his Canon Powershot Pro 1, it's a semi-pro camera along the lines of the Powershot S2 and S3.
Included are:
- 512mb CF card
- Hama Camera Bag
- Card Reader
- Battery
- Fast Charger
Box and manual not included. 22k PHP, negotiable.
Contact him at 0916-6363720. If you're wondering why he's selling, he just really needs the money immediately, there's no catch.
ii. romeo x juliet
While some people have been knocking Gonzo's new anime Romeo x Juliet, I figured I'd give it a shot since it was a love story and my friend Jamie sold it well. She knew that mentioning the cross-dressing angle was enough to get me scampering off to the nearest torrent site.
So, I started watching episode 1 last night and I'm liking it. Sure, it's a very loose rehash of the original but still, when you forget that it's a Shakespearean and just think of it as an anime, it's very enjoyable.
I was enjoying the show until the realization hit me. "Waaaait. Just remembered, this is Shakespeare. What am I doing getting attached to the characters when they all die?" GLOOM DOOM GLOOM DOOM T_T I should stop watching immediately but how? I think I've crossed the point of no return. From episode 1.
iii. ore wa tensai!
Or so, as I quote Sakuragi Hanamichi. I was able to tame wordpress and now have it installed and running on kitchen cow. Right now, still trying to diagram what I want to do with the site. I'm definitely migrating all the kitchen cow @ livejournal content but I want to make it more special. What's the point of spending money on hosting and a domain if it's going to be the same as the livejournal set-up, right?
There's still a lot of work ahead, but right now, I just want to bask in the glow of my tensai-ness. Thankfully, I have the weekend and Labor day ahead. I want to launch the domain on May 3, the first anniversary of my first bento post. Here's to exciting days ahead! Busy but definitely exciting.

i. trying to finish episodes veronica mars before season resumes
One of the main reasons why I watch Veronica Mars is because of the Logan x Veronica interaction. Even when Logan's being a class A jackass, I can't help but love him, because hey, I've seen him go on sensitive mode too and when he is---
That said, I just finished watching Veronica Mars Season 3 ep 10, closing the date rape arc. ( Spoilery spoils! - Logan x Veronica thoughts. )
ii. rabucon!
I love Lovely Complex. I've seen just one episode but it's shaping up to be closer to be closer to the manga, feel-wise, than the movie. Which would be good because honestly, while Koike Teppei is really cute, it just didn't capture the Risa-emotion of the manga.
It's a recommended must watch for shoujo lovers. Maybe even non-shoujo fans because it's really funny.
iii. emma second act 0
Is out with english subs. Drop by http://animesuki.com for the torrent link if you're another William x Emma fan.
iv. still trying to figure out
how to spend the rest of my day. Thankfully, instead of making the art director and me go to both shoots this weekend, we were told that we can split tasks instead, so I went to the AVP shoot yesterday and he's doing the print shoot today. While it would've been fun to go to the print shoot, my need for rest and a bit of me-time had more weight so I opted to rest instead. Well, back to the grind tomorrow.

I'd love to stay and explain why I love the manga so but no time. Here's a review of the first episode if you're interested though:

i. manila when it sizzles
Just heard from the news. Today has been the hottest day so far for 2007. No wonder we were stewing. 36.8 degrees celcius. Plus it was a highly humid day so it felt +3 or 4 degrees hotter. And PAGASA warns that May will be much much hotter.
Now that's hot.
ii. bento shopping. yet again.
I saw a couple of new cute Thermos brand bentos which made me miserable. Why? I wanted them all! Thermos has actually released a set of very bento inspired lunch boxes. I mean, tiered rectangular bento boxes made of metal! With moveable dividers and separate containers. With matching bento band! I was in love.
There were 4 at SM and I was thisclose to buying the most expensive one simply because I've been on the market for a thermal box for the longest time, this one in particular.

But after seeing the other 3, I absolutely did now know what to do. I was even thinking of doing a poll to help me decide but I couldn't find pics of the other 3 online. *sob sob sob*
Will probably buy this one since it looks like it can do the best job of keeping heat in but can I help it if I'm attracted to the other 3 as well?
iii. gimme my lovecom!
I'm ever so disappointed with fansubbers this season. Two groups have picked up Romeo x Juliet and I know it's probably good but why can't anyone do Lovely Complex? I was practically squealing when I found out it's being animated this season and that an episode has come out...but where are the subs?
Poor me. This is what I get for not trying to learn Japanese. Sobbers sobbers. I want my Risa and my Kotani! I need my Lovecom anime especially because the movie disappointed me. Sure, Kotani was cute (it was Koike Teppei, how can he not be cute) but it didn't capture the feel of the manga as much as I wanted. I need my funny, mismatched couple. I hope someone fansubs it.
iv. finally got the ball rolling!
Kitchen cow will be undergoing a few changes these coming days. Positive change, I'd like to think and I hope you guys will agree with me. Still, all the usual features will remain though I do plan implement some improvements here and there.
Biggest change? Well, I'm now the proud owner of http://www.kitchencow.com

I watched the Rurouni Kenshin Star Mist arc years ago when it first came out. I remember pestering all my anime connections for a copy. It was even the first CD I copied on my then brand new CD writer.
Being a big fan, I was full of anticipation, expecting a glorious end to the series. I've seen the whole TV series, movies and oavs included; I've read the whole manga, even the sidestories like Yahiko's.
After crying buckets while watching it, I swore never ever to watch it again.
Today, I caught it on animax. Right during the part where Enishi kidnaps Kaoru. The show just sucked me in, like a moth to flame, and I continued watching. I cried.
Then I farking remember WHY I swore never to watch it again.
Kenshin, you emo-bastard. I hate you. -_-;;

Finally got my new camera today. Yay! I can't tell if it's refurbished or a new unit. It looks new, even if the box is a bit dusty looking. But even if it weren't, the fact that it's still a fresh camera to replace what was my 4 year old camera is still a good thing.
Haven't named it yet. Still trying to decide whether I should christen her with something along the lines of Yukiko (iPod Nano) and Tsukiko (my home PC). Cla suggested Tsubibo (Ferris Wheel---it does sound like Tsukiko ^_^;;) but I bet after the initial novelty of the joke has worn off, I won't be fine with the silly name.
I've charged it, gone through the quickstart beginner's manual, and have taken a couple of snapshots at work. I like how many fiddly button settings there are, although yes, at times, it can get intimidating.
Still, you can just imagine how excited I am to start taking Pinky pictures. Admittedly though, I'm not sure if I can get nice pics when I get home since our house lights aren't that conducive for taking photos. I'm actually eyeing a small floodlight, but the one I saw, the cheap one, doesn't have a stand. It's just the light and the head.
Lighting issues aside, I can't wait to take my pinky pics, as well as start preparing bentos in full force again.
Weekend goals:
• Finish Tamaki mod project head, wig, and legs. Get started on Ouran High blazer.
• Photograph books to be sold. Post them on ebay.
• Build Pinky photo room.
• Start playing with Sculpey / Paper Clay.
• Window shop for Mr. White Surfacer / Surfacer liquid thingie.
And in other news, I bought the complete Arrested Development series. Will try to get started on season 3 tonight. Also bought the complete Gakuen Alice series. Yes. I have a crush on a two-dimensional ten-year old boy again.

i. earthquake blues
Asia still hasn't recovered from the Taiwan earthquake. We're still posting all time lows bandwidth-wise. My torrent downloads are at a low 10k to as much as just 40k. I who's supposed to be enjoying a 1.5 mbps connection.
Sucks really. I can't start downloading Hana Yori Dango Season 2, that new Kimura Takuya Drama, Goong 2, Lunch no Juou, Gakuen Alice, Ugly Betty and all sorts of stuff I've been wanting to download. I'm way behind on Manga downloads either since I have a hard time keeping up minimum connection speeds on IRC. Hell, I can't even visit LJ from my house, hence the inability to update this blog. And I had so much to blog about. I can make a feeble attempt to encapsulate all the stuff I initially wanted to blog about, but it's still not the same.
I feel so pathetic; yes, I am a net whore. *sob sob*
ii. something to put a smile on my face
On the brighter side, the Canon people have finally called me up and have informed me that the replacement unit for my Canon IXUS II has finally arrived and can be picked up by Thursday. They're giving me a Canon IXUS 55, I assume because the IXUS II has long been phased out.
I immediately googled it, and yay! Happiness. It's a 5.0 megapix (upgrade from the IXUS II's 3.2), 3.0 cm macro (I dunno if this is better than the IXUS II's since I couldn't find the macro info for that cam), a bigger LCD screen, and MANUAL FOCUSING! Yay!
I can't wait to bento! I can't wait to take Pinky pics. I can't wait to take pics in general! I really should make this the year of the camwhore. I just realized how few pics of myself I have. But then, would I really want to remind myself of how much weight I've gained?
iii. pinky addiction
I'm feeding my pinky addiction with something else, other than just buying pinkies. I am now the owner of gajillions of sculpting material (Premo Sculpey and paper clay) from Volty and Chris (THANKIES!). I've also bought loads of craft tools, like an exacto knife, a cutting mat, a metal ruler---all seemingly cheap until I start adding up the costs.
Oh well. At least it's something to feed creativity, and not something to feed my mouth. ^_^;; No weight gain there, right?
iv. resolutions
I made a lot of new years resolutions. Plus I had a lot of ideas on what to blog about for new years. But frankly they've all slipped my mind. All I remember is that I have to lose weight, and try to save money. Maybe I'll get in the mood to do that resolution / recap post again, maybe I won't. Let's just wait and see.
v. what i've been watching / reading
And because I've been spending less time in front of the computer, I've been watching stuff on TV instead. It's something easier to do now since we bought a TV for the room last December. So my mom and I have a TV each; luckily, I get to watch on the bedroom TV since she prefers watching in the living room so she can do chores while doing so. I like the room TV since I moved the DVD player there. So it's a win-win situation.
So far, I've done a Haruhi Suzumiya marathon, and an Arrested Development one. I love Kyon, I love his seiyuu. I love the 5 main characters of Haruhi Suzumiya, so I'll be getting the complete Pinky set, prolly. I like how I don't have characters I detest or feel ambivalent towards in the series. That's surely a rarity.
Arrested Development I really enjoyed watching. I finished the first two seasons in just a few days plus a weekend. I have a teeny tiny crush on Michael Bluth, I guess. Especially when he's so clueless. Must find season 3. (Which I prolly could find online if only the net weren't so wonky -_-;;)
Oh yeah, and I'm now up to date with Japanese One Piece manga releases. Or well, at least the fan translated ones. FRANKY IS UGLY! Hahahaha. But he's likeable in a way. At least he's really reliable when it comes to battle. I still love Sanji, but what else is new?
vi. saving? who am I kidding?
Considering I've spent a large part of the afternoon shopping for manga. I even bought a couple already, only to cancel the transaction when I realized it wouldn't reach my San Francisco aunt in time for her 4th week of January trip to Manila. Now I'm getting my Texas aunt's address instead so I can buy the books in time for her early February trip.
Plus, I'm prolly buying a few additional toys when my mom buys me her promised Christmas gift of re-ments. Aaaack. Must have more self-control.

i. bobers is me!
So stoopid. I wrote a lengthy, multipart LJ post earlier today. Well, it's lengthy because it's full of memes I've been putting off but still, it was a fun post, especially because it had that "fictional character you want to screw around with" meme. Now I can't post it because I left the file at work. :(
Oh well, at least I remembered to bring my take-home work. Maybe I should start writing. Oh lookie. Manga download's finished. Or maybe I won't start.
ii. i miss bento
I absolutely really truly miss preparing bento boxed lunches. This is the first time in weeks I went grocery shopping and I was going nuts buying chicken, beef, pork, and veggies. All in miniscule portions of course, ("Miss, give me 2 bags of ground chicken, just 100grams each please.")
I'm not sure I can still cut it making quick bentos in the morning but hey, I'm up to the challenge. I mean, today, I packed lunch, and I made a mistake choosing which box to use. I ended up with the sauce from corned beef hash on my jeans. Good thing it was only a small spill, so I was able to scrub it out with a wet wipe.
If only I had my camera back. Well, at least it's been 10 days. The people at the service center told me 14 days, tops. There's nothing like vanity to push me in the mornings.
iii. i'm a sappy girl
Okay, call me a little freak, but I find love stories in the weirdest places. I'm such a sucker for them, hehe. Today, I was reading volumes 17-21 of 20th Century Boys. The prospect of the upcoming movie got me excited again, so I trawled the net for torrents and it worked. But I'm digressing. Back to the story, so I was reading it. It's a story full of convoluted plots, maniacal masterminds, doomsday scenarios, and downtrodden citizens. Instead of that though, the happiest part for me was when I ran into a chapter where Yukiji was reminiscing about Kenji. Bwahahahahaha, I got teary-eyed at the prospective match up. Hwehwe. I'm so corny. ^_^;;
iv. video watching
I've been watching a handful of videos of late, mostly TV series episodes. Been watching Ugly Betty, then started on Heroes the past weekend. But the thing I've been religiously watching is Rurouni Kenshin. I'm up to the Kyoto Arc now, and Kenshin's just about to step into the Aoshi room. Oh joy.
Okay, call me a little freak, but I find love stories in the weirdest places. I'm such a sucker for them, hehe. Today, I was reading volumes 17-21 of 20th Century Boys. The prospect of the upcoming movie got me excited again, so I trawled the net for torrents and it worked. But I'm digressing. Back to the story, so I was reading it. It's a story full of convoluted plots, maniacal masterminds, doomsday scenarios, and downtrodden citizens. Instead of that though, the happiest part for me was when I ran into a chapter where Yukiji was reminiscing about Kenji. Bwahahahahaha, I got teary-eyed at the prospective match up. Hwehwe. I'm so corny. ^_^;;

Aaaargh! *sob sob sob* Why can't the good guys ever learn to drop the good guy attitude during the right moments? God Takeuchi! I hate youuuuuu! Yano doesn't deserve Nana, and we both know it. You were the only viable option. Why did you have to go all good guy?
Ugh. I don't want to watch Bokura ga Ita anymore. -_-;;
Edit:
My eyes feel weird after the tears I shed. I'm so not in the mood to go to the super with my mom (so not me, I mean, refuse to go food shopping?). And well, I feel depressed. I feel so pathetic, that one single anime episode can do this to me. (Ugh. Suddenly remembers the whole Nobu x Hachi debacle.) Ugh. I need to get a life.

i. garage sale success!
I sold off a couple of books and anime VCDs at this garage sale at Verdana yesterday. Sold most of them really cheap and happily, I went home with a lot of thing sold. The only ones I have left are a couple of the more expensive books, mostly Japanese and English manga. I’ll be posting them up on ebay.ph soon, but since I can’t do that for the anime VCDs seeing how they’re all pirated, would you guys want some of them? Most of the anime VCDs I’m selling off are old titles, for just 5 or 10 PHP for a WHOLE SERIES. I’ll post a list when I get home. I was too tired to do an inventory last night.
ii. anime weekend
I started on two new anime series this weekend, Death Note and Perfect Girl Evolution. I’ve read both series’ manga versions already. For Death Note, I’ve read the whole thing and hated the ending, but I’m still giving the series a shot. For one thing, I looooove L’s seiyuu. I love L, period. Heehee. It’s so much fun crushing on weirdoes.
Watching Perfect Girl Evolution on the other hand, wasn’t quite as satisfying as I expected. I hate the seiyuus with the sole exception of Sunako’s, and the musical scoring / sound quality sucks. It has moments, and yeah, Paddy and I laughed out loud at moments, like when the boys screamed Okaasan, but generally, it’s pretty blah. I like how they’ve made the series more comic, not caring about the boys bishounen images and distorting them into caricatures, but so far, that’s the only thing I truly enjoyed.
Ah but then, it’s Kyohei. Who am I to not watch Takano Kyohei? And Nakahara Sunako? I still can’t wait for new Wallflower volumes. Must see more Kyohei x Sunako action.
iii. dessert cookery
Spent Sunday night baking dessert. Not my idea of a restful time, especially following the garage sale, but I really really wanted to participate in Lasang Pinoy. Thankfully, I made it just in the nick of time. Read up about it on kitchencow.

I wanted to whine about not having electricity for...how many days now? Well, it was 96 hours at 9 am this morning. I really couldn't be bothered to count, all I wanted to do was catch up with
bentolunch, update
kitchencow and whine and whine.
But right now, I'm grinning from ear to ear with Tama-love. The ending wasn't as definite as I wanted, but hey, I'll take what the universe dishes out. The horrid ordeal can wait. Right now, I'm suffused with Tamaki-joy.
And you have to admit, Tamaki really is luv.
(Pinky custom want list has grown from Tamaki to Tama-Haru. Must drop by ATC to buy Rui later.)
Edit:
I love my new userpics :D

i. okay. i guess sometimes yaoi can be nice
Okay. I never thought I’d say this but Tama x Kyou? IS THE LURF!
Nyahahahahahahaha! Omg, I’m actually rooting for a non-canon yaoi pairing. What is wrong with this world? What is wrong with me? Nuuuuuu!Tama x Haru Tama x Kyou is lurf!
ii. more christopher chant love
I only found out about the latest Chrestomanci novel yesterday. Sure enough, I grabbed a copy as soon as I saw it in the bookstore. Conrad’s Fate follows the story of a 12-year old boy with bad, bad karma and how he tries to get rid of said bad karma. He’s advised to work in the Stallery mansion as part of his mission, and guess who just happens to also work there.
Yes! Christopher Chant, that vain, charismatic, lovable Chrestomanci is back, this time as a 15-year old who goes undercover for a secret mission, also in the same mansion.
Right now, I’m not even halfway through the book, but I’m definitely hooked, especially since Christopher showed up. Will resume date with Mr. Chant later, heehee.
iii. pinky customs
Do any of you guys (taking my chances here) know of any dental supplies shop down south of Manila? Like, Paranaque / Las Pinas / Cavite / Muntinlupa area? Or maybe somewhere in the Makati Business district?
I’m trying to look for silicone and polyurethane resin for casting molds of models and someone suggested checking out dental supply stores. I’ll be dropping by a hobby shop tomorrow to see what they have but just in case anyone has leads, lemme know :D

i. lay-out love
I've been meaning to play around with my LJ lay-out ever since I got a paid account. But now, I'm not sure I want to; I've just fallen in love with the playful cherry blossom theme ported from Vox. Now I can't help but stare at my LJ. Aheeheehee.
ii. touching
(45 second clip)
I'm mababaw. This left me speechless.

New project. Kick-ass new project, but honestly, it's scary shite. I mean, no one's pressuring me but myself. I so want to be able to contribute something to this one. I spent the afternoon wracking my brains, instead of working on pending revisions. I do hope something comes to me before we re-align tomorrow.
ii. stalking works
My habit of stalking torrents has paid off. I finally chanced upon seeds for Chuushingura 1/47, Kimutaku's taiga dorama. Now I have it on my hard drive, waiting to be watched. Must finish Long Vacation first though.
iii. heehee, kim rae won returneth
Kim Rae Won has reminded me how cute he is, after seeing him on numerous GMA7 plugs for Love Story in Harvard. Last time I tried to download this series (around early last year), only two episodes were available so I didn't pursue it. Now it's all there in fully english subtitled glory. Can't wait!
iv. where oh where could my tama-chan be?
Two weeks now, still no sign of Ouran Host Club 18. Sigh. This is getting to be very depressing.
v. 2006: the year of the technologically inept cow
I'm so misfortunate when it comes to technology this year. For the nth time, Tsukiko almost died. She was working perfect, then suddenly...poof. She refused to work. Thank God for Jonathan from PCwerkes. Apparently, the problem was with my Video card. So now, I'm working with my onboard video thingie, and crossing my fingers that Villman will replace my video card quickly since it's still under warranty. I never knew how important it was; I can barely burn CDs right now because I think I don't have adequate memory at the moment. Or at least I hope that's it, heaven help me if my DVD writer's conking out on me too.
vi. you know you're really really tired when...
...the thought of watching a jdorama with a cute guy is too much. Wow. I'm actually going to go to sleep at 9:30. And I'm not even sick! Goodnight Manila!

It makes me shiver all over (not in a good way) with the yaoi undertones, but I have to admit, it's damned funny.

i. me wanna go beddy bye
Another bed weather Monday. I ask you, how can people manage to work under these conditions, especially knowing that school’s out. Does this make us any tougher than those kids, that we can brave serious weather? Some of those kids are larger than me, it just isn’t fair.
ii. lunar hates me
Otherwise, why do they keep updating Ouran when I’m at work? I mean, I was faithfully visiting the animesuki tracker all weekend, and no Ouran. And when I finally go to work, BAM! They update. (I know they updated while I was working and not while I was sleeping cause I checked when I woke up, and when I first got to work). Now I can’t concentrate even more. Focus, Kao. Focus. Channel your creative energies toward present project instead. You can do it.
iii. for sale
Anybody interested in a couple of Japanese W-Juliet volumes? Or a brand new Phillips portable CD player (discman being a Sony product) with anti-skip protect for P1,500? I’ll be putting these things up on ebay as soon as I have the time, but if any friend would like a crack on it before I put them up for auction, please holler. Philippines only btw.
iv. you can tell it was a long day at work
...when items i to iii come to you post-posted. :P It’s past midnight, and I just finished updating my bento / food blog
kitchencow. Now I’m finally working on finishing today’s at work post. A sure sign that it’s a busy day at work is when my bento update, which I usually try to squeeze in before lunch, comes after lunch. Much worse when it comes past midnight, like now. Ugh.
v. murphy’s law strikes again
I went shopping today, finally purchasing my first pinky, in effect maxing out my teeny tiny credit card limit. I wasn’t worried since I’m expecting a cheque to clear in my bank account in a few days, so I figured, what’s a few days with no contingency funds?
Aha! Murphy’s Law (My version – “Haha, you’re screwed.”) Less than an hour after I purchased my pinky, as I was sending John a text message about my recent acquisition, my phone went, “Check Operator Services.” OMFG. For a postpaid line, it means one thing. Buh-bye! See how the universe loves laughing at my face?
vi. sumire
When I first bought her, I said I'd name her Marie after the little sister character in Tonagura, since she reminded me of Marie. The eyes, the black dress / uniform. Down to the Violin case which I said is probably a "violent case."
But after tearing open the package and seeing her in boy clothes, my heart skipped a beat, and I knew. This is the start of another cross-dressing saga. :P Watch out world here comes...damn. Now I have to think of a name. Mayhaps I wake up with your name, dear Sumire-chan.
