Shopping for New Webhost
As title says, I'm shopping for a new webhost. Suggestions anyone? I run a site on wordpress and I'd like the transition to be easy since I've never moved hosts before. I'm not happy with my webhost (ploghost) anymore as their tech support leaves much to be desired. I'm considering bigskymedia right now but they're not taking new clients right now. Suggestions?

I can host you for free if you like, but my host (dreamhost) has the occasional outage now and again.

Thanks for the offer. I appreciate it greatly but I really need to get my own hosting since I have a couple more blogs planned, aside from my food blog. Plus, it's a monetized blog so I'd feel uncomfortable in having someone else pay for my hosting costs. I also looked at dreamhost but am still having second thoughts about having a host that's based off-shore from me. How are they with customer service / tech support? I'm fine with the occasional outage, as long as it's taken care of quickly. What I'm needing is good response time for tech support, one area where my local host is slow to deliver.

I actually pay the same nomatter how much I host really, but I totally understand if you'd rather do it on your own as you'd have more control that way if there were a tech issue. The offer stands though if you change your mind! I used to be a web designer so I am on a plan that gives a huge amount of space I never use these days.

I actually wouldn't recommend Dreamhost at this point even though I have been with them for many years. They are good, but they had a billing issue that annoyed everyone a couple of months ago.

I'm not sure what you're looking for, but I was actually doing the same thing a few months back and found this hosting review site to be helpful. After a while, they all start looking the same. @_@;; Anyway, my friend ended up hosting my domain, so I can't personally recommend any, unfortunately. Good luck!

Nyahahaha, guess who just signed up with BigSkyMedia? ^_^ I met the owner kanina, and we're going on a trip together on Friday. I asked him why he's not accepting new sign ups. There's a couple of sites daw na sobrang laki na ng load na ginagamit, that's why minsan nag down ang server. He's still trying to cope with that before taking in new customers.

But yes, feeling special at feeling close ako XD
